Honda finally revealed their new solar hydrogen system, and all the signs point to an amazing success. The solar station is smaller than earlier models and allows hydrogen car owner’s to fuel their fuel cells overnight. The unit will only take up a small amount of space in your garage unlike earlier models.
Honda has redesigned the components of the solar station and has eliminated the need for a compressor. The new model is the result of what they did to slim down the recharging station. The solar station is also smart grid friendly and will not need any hydrogen storage for the fuel cells to recharge. This allows the solar station to lower the CO2 emission even greater, allowing the car owner to use off-peak electricity all the way around.
The Honda solar hydrogen station is built to recharge the car overnight in 8 hours. With a single charge it is able to get you were you would normally go in a single day worth of driving and home without any worries of recharging your car.
The designers of this new solar station have talked of setting up a string of charging stations so people could travel longer distances. The solar stations are built to have a fast charge fill up. And any car with this technology would be able to help from public charging stations.
Honda is continuing its developments of this concept and its coast to coast fueling station will likely become more of reality before too long. For Honda it’s a matter of getting investors on board to support the fueling stations and there’s no telling what will happen.
The Honda solar car can travel 240 miles on an overnight charge of 8 hours and the capability to do a fast charge in 5 minutes. This increase’s the travel range of the car. If travelers could find a place to do overnight fills than there would be no distance this car couldn’t go.
Overall this seems like a great idea on how to help the economy. But how many people are going to have the money to buy this car and buy a fueling station for their home? This would be a great change but how many other ways is it going to cost us to help the economy? This could better are economy in so many ways and people should really take in to consideration of furthering this idea.
